Sources said that, Dilli Ganesh (17), son of Velu from Paiyur Colony and a Class 12 student of a government-aided private school in Arani town, a couple of days ago, felt humiliated after the school headmistress M Malarvizhi and assistant HM S Mangavai trimmed his messy hair in front of the classmates. The action by the school authorities comes after the boy failed to obey the repeated warnings of the headmistress to trim his hair before coming to school. While Malarvizhi and Sangavai trimmed Ganesh’s hair.
The issue snowballed into a controversy between the parents of Ganesh and the school staff after the boy attempted suicide at his house by consuming poison. His mother, who was present in the house foiled his attempt.
Later, Ganesh narrated her what had happened in the school and told her that he would not go to school anymore. Irked by this, parents went to the school and confronted the headmistress. Though Malarvizhi apologised the parents went to Arani town police station and lodged a complaint against the school authorities. Later, at the police station Malavizhi apologised to the boy and his parents.
