“The State government has fixed the rates for movie tickets and is monitoring the pricing scenario. If theatres are found fleecing the public, their licence would be cancelled,” Raju said while speaking to the media in his home constituency of Kovilpatti.
The Madurai Bench of High Court had directed theatres to sell movie tickets as per the GO passed in 2017. However, many people had complained of ticket prices of movies to be released during Deepavali burning a hole in their pockets. The Minister said that the reason behind high prices was high budget movies and star value.
