While speaking to the media in Erode, Vaiko said the Centre and Kerala governments have raked up the issue of constructing a new dam near Mullaiperiyar now.

“Despite the issue being settled by the Supreme Court, the BJP is involved in such projects against the interest of Tamil Nadu,” he alleged, listing various projects that ran into controversies, including hydrocarbon exploration, NEET, Sterlite Copper’s expansion and Methane extraction among others.

Noting that Tamil Nadu was suffering at the hands of State and Central government, Vaiko cautioned that the public would not allow any projects that was against their interests.

The MDMK leader also condemned Governor Banwarilal Purohit for not acting on the recommendation to release of Rajiv Gandhi assassin case convicts.
