Plea against Minister for using threat to acquire land

Justice R Mahadevan before whom the plea came up posted the case to be heard after two weeks.

The petitioner B Ramamoorthy and J Jayaprakash of Katpadi Taluk in Vellore contended that they were agreement holders along with Shekhar Reddy regards four properties measuring six acres and 90 cents as per the sale agreement dated October 18, 2010. But during the subsistence of the agreement, the original owners sold the property. However, due to various developments undertaken in the property, the purchaser agreed to buy the said property for Rs 225 crore. But since the purchaser demanded vacant possession of the land, a settlement talk between him and Shekhar Reddy transpired. But contrary to the agreement signed on September 22, 2017, Shekhar Reddy using the help of Veeramani resorted to all possible illegal attempts to evict them using their political power, the petitioner submitted.

Alleging that the Minister has a huge stake in the process of evicting them and hence was using misusing his powers, the petitioner said several complaints to the Vellore police and thereafter to the Chief Minister’s cell had failed to evoke any response.

Based on this, they sought the court to direct the Tamil Nadu government to consider their representation dated July 27, 2018 and conduct enquiry by following the principles of natural justice and dispose the same in accordance with law by initiating action against Prevention of Corruption Act.
