Apart from the duo, the Maran brothers (Kalanidhi Maran produced the movie) and the DMK were also criticised in a poetic piece published in the Tamil daily on Friday.
“Vijay who flopped badly in Sura and became mentally-challenged in Mersal has no right to criticise an historical organisation like the AIADMK nurtured by J Jayalalithaa,” stated the poem.
Describing Vijay as an income tax defaulter, it carried the picture of a news report on an IT raid in his house conducted earlier. Murugadoss was termed as the person who steals the stories of others and makes them into movies.
In an indirect attack on the Maran brothers, the poem said they were “Kedi brothers” (crooked) and “cable stealers”.
There was also a veiled attack on the DMK, which was referred to as a treacherous gang about to face doom for extending support to the movie.
Stating that the movie ridicules welfare measures as freebies and tries to belittle Jayalalithaa’s achievements, the poem praised the former CM as a visionary for her governance.
“Our women in villages who knew nothing, but the grinding stones were given mixers and grinders. Laptops, which were used only by children of rich families, was given free to all the students to make sure that even children in poor families use technology,” it said.
