Unable to secure a government job engineer commits suicide

Reports say that he had been telling his wife and friends that he did not like the job he was employed at. Even after repeated attempts he could not secure a government job.

A 37-year-old engineer committed suicide on Thursday as he could not secure a government job even after repeated attempts. Sankaran hails from Kodamalai near Cunnoor. He worked as a manager in a nearby tea factory in the village of Masakkal.

After graduating as an engineer, he had been trying to get a job in the Tamil Nadu government. Reports say that he had been telling his wife and friends that he did not like the job he was employed at. Even after repeated attempts he could not secure a government job.

On Thursday at around 2:00 pm, he went to the manager's quarters from where he did not return for a long time. His death came to light when the labourers saw him hanging in the quarters. They reported the same to the police. Immediately the man was taken to the Kothagiri general hospital for treatment, where he was declared brought dead.

The police have filed a case and started investigating the case. It was found that the late engineer had taken to drinking depressed at not being able to find a government job. He had allegedly been drinking for the past 2 days. He had committed suicide citing his inability to secure a government job. The police are further investigating on this case. He is survived by his wife Remila (26).
