Impostor cops cheat 2 women of 20 sovereigns in Vellore, Ambur
In two separate cheating incidents, in Vellore and Ambur, two women were robbed off their jewellery by men, who posed as a police official on Monday.

In the first incident, Jayanthi (52), a government school teacher and a resident of Durainagar near Katpadi, was approached by two men claiming to be policemen in mufti.
The men advised Jayanthi to keep her 16 sovereign gold chain safe inside her bag. Based on the men’s advised, Jayanthi wrapped her jewellery in a sheet of paper given by them and kept it inside her bag.
While Jayanthi was distracted, the men switched the paper in which the jewels were wrapped.
Later, she found her jewellery missing. Jayanthi filed complained with the Katpadi police, who registered a case. Further investigations are on.
In a similar incident at Ambur, Sundara (50), wife of Pandurangam from Kaspa area, was on her way to the market. She was accosted by two men, who claimed to be police officials in mufti.
They advised her not to wear jewellery in pubic. She wrapped her four sovereign gold chain in a paper given by them.
When she opened the paper parcel, after they left, she realised that her jewellery was robbed of.
Ambur town police have registered a case and are investigating.
