21-year-old gangraped in Thanjai district

Sources said the incident happened on November 8, after she was offered a sedative-mixed soft drink by a gang led by Chinnappan (45). Based on a complaint filed by her parents, the police had registered a case and arrested Chinnappan.

However, on Tuesday, villagers joined by the members of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) resorted to a protest demanding the arrest of all the accused persons. They also demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the victim.
