He addressed the reporters about the details of the testimony of IG Sathyamurthy. He said that the cop had informed the Justice A Arumughaswamy enquiry commission probing the death of Jayalalithaa that neither Sasikala nor members of the family barred anyone from visiting the ailing chief minister or imposed restrictions on entry.
The intelligence wing was in charge of security arrangements in the Apollo Hospitals where Jayalalithaa received treatment. IG Sathyamurthy said that he did not receive any request from Sasikala. He said that the intelligence wing allowed access to the then chief minister to select Ministers.
Raja Senthoor Pandian said that he did not cross-examine IG Sathyamurthy on the issue of the switching off of CCTV cameras in Apollo Hospitals as his client Sasikala did not have any part to play in it.
Jayalalithaa spent 75 days at the hospital following her admission on September 22, 2016 after taking ill at her residence in Poes Garden. She passed away on December 5, 2016. The enquiry commission is to submit a final report on February 24, 2019.
