After the lavish lifestyles of prisoners in Chennai Puzhal prison leaked recently, the jail officials in Vellore found three cell phones and a sim card buried near a watch tower on the prison premises.
The mobile phones reportedly belonged to a Chennai-based prisoner, who was shifted to the Vellore prison recently.
Also, as many as 11 cell phones were retrieved from the prison cells and from underground over the last two months.
Following this, a case was filed by the Bagayam police based on complaints from prison officials.
