Extend crop premium deadline: PMK
PMK youth wing leader and Dharmapuri MP Anbumani Ramadoss on Tuesday had demanded the state and the Centre to extend the deadline for farmers to pay the premium for crop insurance.

“November 30 was fixed as the last date for farmers to pay their premium amount under crop insurance scheme but Cyclone Gaja had made the Cauvery Delta farmers look for some relief and pushed them to a position that they cannot pay the premium amount immediately,” said Anbumani, in a statement.
Tamil Nadu isprone to natural disasters and farmers badly need to insure their crops as they are prone to be destroyedin the naturalcalamities and so the deadline for paying premium should be extended, demanded Anbumani.
Cyclone Gaja wreaked havoc in the delta districts throwing the livelihood of farmers out of order.Lakhs of trees were damaged, and farmers lost the trees and crops that were dependent on.
