Relief materials sent to Pudukkottai
While relief work is being carried out across affected districts following the destruction of cyclone Gaja, institutions and other organisations have been sending out relief aid to the districts in need. In this aspect, the Dr MGR Medical University, on Wednesday, flagged off vehicles carrying food, to Pudukkottai district.

Stating that the food includes rice, dal and cooking oil, for persons affected in Pudukottai district, source from the university said 1,000 kilograms of each item was sent immediately.
Districts returning to normalcy
Officials from the Health Department have been carrying out relief work over the past two weeks due to which the affected districts have slowly been returning to normalcy.
Stating that officials and workers have been working hard together, health minister Dr C Vijaya Baskar, in a release said, “An inspection was carried out in Pudukkottai district on Wednesday, in which district collectors and other officials participated.”
He said that as school books were all destroyed during the cyclone, textbooks and notebooks were distributed to the students at the Pudukkottai Government Higher Secondary School on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Garbage cleaning works the liquid chlorination work was carried out at the bus stand and its surroundings in the district. Inspections were carried out in the bus stands as well. Nearly, 200 cleaning workers were distributed in teams to carry out cleaning work in Trichy, Erode, Namakkal and other districts, he added. Besides, he also said that fallen trees in all offices were cleared.
