The training will impart the teachers on overviews of 21st century education and equip them with the nuances of technology to help them use it effectively in their teaching methods. Janaka Pushpanathan, Director South India, British Council said, “Technology today has transformed all facets of our lives significantly and that includes learning. We believe that technology can help improve the quality of education significantly.”
He said with the commencement of teacher training in Tamil Nadu SSA schools, the coaching could enrich teaching for better learner outcomes and could help teachers respond better to the ambitions and needs of students. N Arul Murugan, Joint Director, Tamil Nadu SSA said that this training session will give an opportunity for developing and mentoring the teachers to give them a technology-focused approach in the classrooms.
He said the course will give the teachers a platform to discuss the challenges faced by them and help them work towards innovative and collaborative solutions to address these challenges.
“It also gave them access to various practical and technology-based teaching and learning strategies that they can use in their classrooms. That will help in achieving positive student learning outcomes, and contribute to their own professional development” he added. 40 participants across government schools of which 34 were teachers and six were teacher educators took part in the first phase of training.
Recently, Tamil Nadu government and British Council have entered into an agreement to offer an online course to teachers who have registered their professional needs online.
