According to police, Subramaniam from Balan Nagar in Tirupur was found dead with assault injuries on the back of his head. It is said that his wife Radhika passed away two years ago due to illness and his daughter, studying in a school, had stayed overnight at her grandmother Palanathaal’s house, in the sameneighbourhood.
“On Thursday, Subramaniam had dinner at Palanathal’s house and had gone to his residence to sleep. As he did not come for breakfast, even after a long time, they had gone to check. As the doors remained open, Palanathal entered inside and was shocked to find Subramaniam lying dead,” police said.
On receiving information, a police team led by Tirupur city police Deputy Commissioner ES Uma visited the scene of the crime and held inquiries. The body of the deceased has been sent for a post-mortem at Tirupur Government Hospital.
After preliminary inquiries, police suspect that the assailants had killed Subramaniam by attacking him with an iron rod on his head after tying his legs and hands. Police are probing to know whether the murder was executed to loot jewels and valuables or due to previous enmity.
