Reacting to the news of former MLA Senthil Balaji joining the DMK soon, a sitting AIADMK MLA from the Kongu region said that all these days, they were confident that the disqualified MLAs would return to the parent organisation, “but losing party heavy weights to arch-rival DMK is not good for both the ruling AIADMK and rebel AMMK,” they said.

The sitting MLAclaimed that there were some senior functionaries who were upset with the current crop of state Ministers and the DMK which lost heavily in Karur, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri and Coimbatore during the previous Lok Sabha and Assembly polls was trying to poach the AIADMK and the AMMK functionaries from this region.

“The party top leaders O Panneerselvam and Edappadi K Palaniswami are not addressing this issue. The only respite is that these negotiations are yet to materialise,” the MLA quipped seeking anonymity.

Meanwhile, rebel leader TTV Dhinakaran conducted a confidential meeting with some of his close aides and discussed about the strategies that has to be adopted for the next Lok Sabha elections. AMMK leader P Vettrivel, who met Dhinakaran, later told reporters that AMMK was focused on the elections for the vacant 20 Assembly seats in Tamil Nadu and would win all the 20 constituencies.
