Seven get life sentence in murder case
A Theni court on Monday awarded life sentence to seven persons involved in a murder case reported in 2015.

According to prosecutors, A Manthiri (55) was murdered on June 30 of that year near a tea shop at Lakshmipuram. A dispute between him and Kodeeswaran, a relative, resulted in the killing. Ramesh Kumar (32), son of Kodeeswaran, had stabbed Manthiri to death.
The incident was abetted by Kodeeswaran, his wife Deivam, relative V Selvam, Selvam’s wife Selvarani and their children Gopikannan and Chandra, they claimed.
Theni Additional District Sessions Judge V Srinivasan, who heard the case, on Monday held all the seven persons guilty and sentenced them to undergo life imprisonment. The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on each of the convicts.
