‘I propose Rahul Gandhi’s name for the prime ministerial candidate,’ says DMK chief MK Stalin
DMK chief MK Stalin on Sunday proposed the name of Congress President Rahul Gandhi as the prime ministerial candidate for Lok Sabha elections 2019.

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Andhra Pradesh Chandrababu Naidu were among the top leaders from the Opposition who took part in the unveiling of late DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi's statue in Chennai on Sunday.
Stalin was addressing a gathering after unveiling a life-size statue of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) patriarch M Karunanidhi at party’s headquarters ‘Anna Arivalayam' in Chennai. He said, "In the 5 years of PM Modi's rule, the country has gone 15 years back. If we give another chance to him, surely the country will go 50 years back. PM Modi is behaving like a king, that's why we've all come together to safeguard democracy and country."
"From the soil of Tamil Nadu, I propose the name of Rahul Gandhi for the prime ministerial candidate" he added.
"I propose we'll install a new Prime Minister in Delhi. I propose the candidature of Rahul Gandhi from Tamil Nadu. He has got the ability to defeat the fascist Modi govt, " MK Stalin concluded.
Apart from Karunanidhi’s son and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief MK Stalin and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Tamil superstar-cum-politician Rajinikanth, former Union minister Shatrughan Sinha were also present at the ceremony at Anna Arivalayam, the DMK office.
