Describing Modi as a “sadist PM who imposed all schemes opposed by the TN,” Stalin said, “I am using the term because such was the amount of hurt caused to Tamil Nadu. Would he not have visited Maharashtra or Gujarat if Gaja like cyclone had caused devastation there? At least a condolence message or message consoling the people of Tamil Nadu could have been issued.”

“Modi had immediately posted condolence message on Twitter for Orlando gun shooting and wild fire in Portugal, but he refuses to condole the death of people in Nagapattinam and Pudukkottai, which are within India. Will he be so insensitive to Tamils?” Stalin asked, forecasting that more parties would join them to defeat Modi.

Karuna showed medirection: Rahul

Calling Karunanidhi “the voice of Tamil people,” Congress president Rahul Gandhi said, “Today we have a government that is attacking the voice, culture and institutions of Tamil Nadu and the country…. In memory of Karunanidhi and respect for culture and language and tradition, all voices of the country are going to get together and defeat the BJP. We are not going to allow the destruction of the idea of India and its institutions like Supreme Court, ECI and RBI. We are going to stand together and do this.”

He further said the late DMK chief showed him the direction. Admiring the Dravidian stalwart to the most superlative degree, he said that he learnt humility and simplicity from Karunanidhi. An impressed Rahul also photographed the statue of Karunandihi unveiled by his mother Sonia.

Expressing his wish to learn Tamil on the occasion, Andhra Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said, “In TN, Stalin will win all 40 seats…. TN must take lead by voting DMK 100 per cent and it will be a turning point in national politics. Karunanidhi’s soul will rest in peace only if you vote DMK to power.”

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said, “As long as Tamil is around, Kalaignar will be around. He had three mothers, his mother, mother-tongue and mother land.”
