A recent government order issued by the Urban and Housing Secretary S Krishnan, who is also the interim chairman of TNRERA, said the approval offered by Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) and Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) would include the registration of projects with TNRERA.
TNRERA would be one of the conditions in the planning permission and its compliance is pre-requisite for the issue of completion certificates (CC).
“TNRERA registration as per Tamil Nadu Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Rules is mandated for availing CC for the real estate projects that exceed 500 sqm or having more than eight dwelling units.
This government order is applicable for new projects that are seeking planning permission,” an official said.
Earlier, the department had included a clause in the final approval letter issued by CMDA and DTCP stating that the promoters should register their projects with TNRERA before commencing booking or selling.
“In spite of several measures taken by TNRERA, certain promoters have not registered their projects with TNRERA,” the order stated.
