Rajya Sabha proceedings have been disrupted for the last five days on issues like Rafale, dam on Cauvery river and demand of special status to Andhra Pradesh. Meanwhile, speaking to reporters in Coimbatore, VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan said the Tamil Nadu government should convene an all-party meet to discuss the Mekedatu as well as the Sterlite Copper issue.

In Madurai, Minister for Municipal Administration SP Velumani said it was not necessary for the Tamil Nadu government to hold any further talks with Karnataka as it would not bear any fruitful results as they were not bothered about following the directives of the Supreme Court.

A massive rally by thousands of farmers and activists was taken out in Thanjavur on Tuesday against the plan to construct a dam across the Cauvery at Mekedatu and they claimed that the new dam would not only affect agriculture but also impede drinking water supply in many districts including Chennai.
