Asst registrar suspended in teak tree case
An assistant registrar of the Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) was suspended on Friday for possessing illegal hoarding of a few teakwood trees uprooted during Gaja cyclone inside the University campus.

An official release from the University stated that the issue of hoarding of some of the teakwood trees felled in the banks of river Vettar, was brought to the notice of the University authorities. Based on the information, the University immediately constituted a three-member committee to conduct a preliminary inquiry and to assess the prima facie evidences, the release said.
Subsequently, the committee submitted its findings on December 20 and based on the findings, Assistant Registrar Velu, has been placed under suspension with immediate effect pending final enquiry.
Meanwhile, the contract employees Dheena and Gopi, the security guard Murugesan and the head security guard Sivaramakrishnan were barred entry into the University,.
