2 suspected red sander smugglers arrested
Police arrested two persons who were on their way to Tirupati to fell red sanders trees and have launched a hunt to nab three others who escaped the spot, near Kannamangalam.

The arrested were identified as Kumar (36), a resident of a tribal village in Jamunmarudur block, and Sathyaraj (24) from Polur. The three escapees were identified as Perumal, Ilango and Annamalai, all natives of different villages in and around Polur.
During their routine patrolling on Friday, the cops noticed the five persons riding two two-wheelers in a suspicious manner. When they tried to question them, three of them escaped on a two wheeler while the remaining two were caught.
Investigation revealed that the five accused were seasoned red sanders offender. They were allegedly jailed for same offence in Andhra Pradesh and were recently released from prison.
During questioning, the arrested told the police that they were on their way to Tirupathi to again take up red sanders felling, however, they were caught on their way.
They were produced before a court in Arni, following which the two were lodged in the Vellore central prison.
