7 held with 2 tusks in Virudhunagar by wildlife officials
The sleuths attached to Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB), Chennai, in association with Wildlife officials of Srivilliputhur Range nabbed a gang of seven on charge of illegal possession of elephant tusks.

The tusks were found concealed in a coil rewinding shop at Sattur, Virudhunagar district. Acting on a tip off from the WCCB of Chennai, the accused were arrested under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, in the joint operation and the tusks were seized.
Srivilliputhur Forest Range Officer, Velusamy, when contacted, said on Saturday that the gang was in the possession of two tusks. The accused were remanded to judicial custody and tusks were handed over to the Judicial Magistrate Court in Sattur.
The accused were identified as K Ashok (45) of Chidambaram Nagar, Sattur, K Ibrahim (47) of Burma Colony, M Pandi (34) of Ramamurthy Road, L Marimuthu (36) of Soolakarai, K Marimuthu (42) of Soolakaraimedu, Arupokkottai Taluk, S Rajaguru (69) of Karuppasamy Nagar and K Justin Prabakaran (35) of Pandian Nagar, from Virudhunagar.
