2030 Zero TB Initiative: TN districts lauded for good work
While Tamil Nadu has been fighting hard in its battle against Tuberculosis, some districts have performed exceptionally well and were rewarded during a workshop held in the city on Saturday.

Stating that Madurai, Dindigul, Erode and Virudhunagar were recognised for their efforts, Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar said, “During the End TB summit in New Delhi, the Prime Minster had asked the country to work towards eradicating the disease before 2025 even though the target is 2030. Our state has been doing quite well with a success rate of curing the disease at 84 per cent and follow up treatments at 90 per cent.” He also released the End TB 2025 logo on the occasion.
The workshop was organised by the National Health Mission and the World Health Organisation. “Our state has been carrying out the identification, treatment and prevention activities very well. In 2017, the Chief Minister had launched the Zero TB Initiative in Chennai and efforts were taken to introduce the programme of distributing Rs 500 among all TB patients and Rs 1,000 among farmers with the disease,” he added. He also said that the state Health Department has been taking enormous efforts to ensure that the treatments being administered to the patients are monitored.
