“The Arumugasamy Commission is investigating the death of Jayalalithaa, but the investigation by a Judicial Commission cannot bring out the truth. Police investigation is required to bring the truth out,” said Jayakumar, in Chennai.
Law Minister Shanmugam, on Monday, created a huge controversy in the political circles by saying that there is suspicion in the death of Jayalalithaa and she was denied foreign treatment by Sasikala and her family. He also charged Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan for not allowing Jayalalithaa to be taken to a foreign country for treatment and demanded setting up of a SIT to investigate the death of Jayalalithaa.
The controversial statement of Shanmugam was supported by Jayakumar, on Monday, and he continued to reiterate Shanmugam’s statement when he was questioned by media on Tuesday. “You know very well about police investigation. Truth will be out only if the issue is investigated in a manner that police are very well known for,” said Jayakumar. Asked about the demand of setting up another parallel investigation, when a Judicial Commission is already probing the death of Jayalalithaa, Jayakumar recalled the investigation of assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
