The feeder e-autos would run from Alandur station to DLF IT park near Porur for a flat rate of Rs 10. CMRL had recently launched feeder cab and mini- van services exclusively for IT professionals by partnering with IT majors.

CMRL has also partnered with MTC to increase last mile connectivity by operating small buses connecting stations to interior areas. CMRL, which started with bicycle rental services, had launched car rental service at its stations in association with Zoom car last month.

Inaugurating the service, Prasad said the feeder electric auto service was proof of CMRL’s commitment to reduce its carbon footprint. CMRL has also been installing solar panels at its stations as a part of its energy conservation initiatives.

The Namma Auto project is implemented by four consortium partners including Fondazione Acra (Italy) and Enviu Foundation (Netherlands), Women Health and Development and The Energy and Resources Institute.

This is the latest initiative by CMRL to provide last mile connectivity to its consumers.
