Medals announced for police, fire personnel

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday announced medals for 3,186 police and uniformed personnel on the occasion of Pongal.

“In recognition of outstanding devotion to duty displayed by personnel of the police, Fire & Rescue Services and Prison Services departments and with a view to motivating them, Chief Minister’s medals are announced and awarded on the occasion of Pongal every year,” he said.


In his order, the CM announced that 3,000 police personnel in the rank of constables (grade I and II), head constables, special sub-inspectors, havildars of armed police (men and women) and equivalent ranks will be awarded the ‘Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Constabulary Medals’.


Along with the 3,000 policemen, 120 Fire and Rescue Services personnel in the rank of leading fireman, driver, mechanic, fireman drivers and firemen and 60 prison service personnel in the rank of grade-I wardens (men and women) and grade-II warden (men) will be awarded the ‘Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Medals’. The monthly medal allowance of Rs 400 would be given to the recipients with effect from February 1.
