The police are on high alert after a group of gun totting Naxals stuck posters demanding to increase wages for tea estate labourers in tribal villages situated in Coimbatore-Kerala border.

The posters written in Malayalam sought the government to increase the wages to Rs 800 per day and warnedagainst removing labourers from the job. To prevent the Naxals from gaining entry into Tamil Nadu, the Anti-Naxal wing sleuths combed through the forests and tribal villages at Suyambukarai, Doomanur, Kudapathy, Veppamarathur, Sundapatty and Pillur dam areas.

The Coimbatore rural police have also stuck posters with images of Naxals asking the tribal peopel to inform them if they spot them. “We are cautious that the Naxals may try to lure labourers into their movement by raising their issues,” said a policeman.
