70-year-old killed in property dispute
A 70-year-old man died after being assaulted with a machete by his brother’s son over a property dispute in Krishnagiri district on Tuesday night.

According to the police, Mothappa, the deceased, farmer from Shoolagiri had a long pendingdispute with his brother Chinappa (67) over sharing their ancestral property.
A quarrel broke out over the issue between two families, which later snowballed into afisticuff. Despite the villagers attempting to pacify the agitated family members, they were did not relent.
In a fit of fury, Siva Prakash (29), son of Chinappa took a machete and attacked him. “Mothappa’s leg was severed inthe attack. He also suffered grievous injuriesall over his body anddied on the spot after bleeding profusely,” police added.
The murder of theseptuagenarian led to tension as villagersrefused to allow police from removing the body of the deceased. They sought for the arrest ofthe accused.
Police then managed to nab Siva Prakash from Hosur after which the villagers allowed police to take the body of the deceased for a post mortem at Krishnagiri GH. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
