Police said that Santosh (20), son of Ramachandran of Palur near Madanur, along with Chandru (18), son of Pandu of the Kuruvan colony nearby, were travelling on the Chennai – Bangalore National Highway to Ambur on a two-wheeler.

When the vehicle was nearing Udayarajapalayam, Santhosh lost control of the two-wheeler and crashed it into the rear of a diesel tanker stationed for repair works bound for Uthangarai from Karur. The force of the accident threw both of them from the two-wheeler. They were rushed to the Vellore Government Medical College Hospital. However, treatment failed to improve the health condition where Santosh succumbed on Tuesday night and Chandru in the early hours of Wednesday.
