Upset over attack on dad, youth ends life

Police said that Sarath Kumar (19), son of Govindasamy, was pulled up by his friend Vijayakanth (19), for talking with the latter’s sister frequently. This led to a verbal duel and Sarath Kumar was attacked by Vijayakanth and his friends Surya (19), Asaithambi (23) and Perumalsamy (26).

A few days ago, when Govindasamy confronted Vijayakanth, he was also attacked. Govindasamy sustained injuries and was rushed to the Tirupattur Government Hospital (GH).

Based on a complaint, Thimmampet police registered a case and arrested Vijayakanth and his three friends. Sarath Kumar, who felt that he was the reason for the whole issue and upset for the attack on his father, attempted suicide by hanging at his residence on Tuesday evening.Family members rescued Sarath and rushed him to the Tirupattur GH from where he was referred to the Dharmapuri GH.

However, he failed to respond to treatment and succumbed at Dharmapuri GH on Thursday. A case has been registered and investigation is under way.
