The former AIADMK MLA from Triplicane joined the Congress in the presence of TNCC president Su Thirunavukkarasar at the party headquarters Sathayamurthy Bhavan.

Thirunavukkarasar admitted Bader Sayeed, who had also served as the Tamil Nadu Waqf Board Chairperson during the AIADMK regime, into the party and appointed her as a spokesperson.

Talking to reporters, Bader Sayeed said since there was no respect in the AIADMK for loyal workers, she decided to quit the party and join the Congress.

Meanwhile, members of various other parties, including the TMC, also joined the Congress.

Speaking to reporters after unfurling the National Flag to mark the 70th  Republic Day celebrations, he said Priyanka’s entry into politics would help Rahul Gandhi to become the Prime Minister and would also strengthen the party. Taking action against striking staff would only show the anti-labour stand of the government, he added.
