Rs 4.24 cr welfare measures disbursed in Vellore
Vellore district Collector SA Raman on Saturday disbursed government welfare measures worth Rs 4.24 crore among the beneficiaries and handed over the Chief Minister’s medals to police personnel, after hoisting the national flag at the historic Vellore fort on the occasion of 70th Republic Day.

After hoisting the national flag at the Vellore fort, he reviewed a guard of honour and took salute at a march past of the local police contingent.
Later, he also witnessed a cultural programme organised by school students. DRO J Parthiban, Vellore range DIG R Vanitha and SP Pravesh Kumar were also present at the event.
In Tiruvannamalai, Collector KS Kandasamy disbursed government welfare measures worth Rs 1.43 crore to 259 beneficiaries at the Armed Reserve grounds here.
He hoisted the tricolour and took the salute at the police march past, following which, he handed out medals to 46 police personnel and certificates to 187 government staff recognising their service. The Collector also released ‘tricolour’ balloons here.
Thereafter, the Collector, along with dignitaries including SP MR Sibi Chakravarthy, trainee collector M Prathap, DRO P Rathinasamy and CEO V Jayakumar, witnessed a performance put up by school students.
In Tiruvallur, district Collector R Maheshwari hoisted the national flag and distributed welfare schemes worth over Rs 1 crore.
The celebrations were held at the district Collectorate, where she took salute at the parade. Along with Tiruvallur SP R Ponni, the Collector gave away medals to police personnel for their outstanding performance. As many as 115 persons were benefited due to the welfare measures.
Students from various schools in the district put up cultural activities to mark the occasion.
