Sub-Inspector held for accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) sleuths in Karur arrested a sub inspector of police for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 to give a recommendation letter for an insurance of a bike that met with an accident.

According to officials, R Naveen (29), a private firm employee and a resident of Ayyampalayam met with an accident near Kallipalayam, three days ago.

Subsequently, Naveen approached the Vangal police Sub Inspector Ragupathi (55) and appealed him for a recommendation letter to the RTO for insurance claim for his vehicle. However, Ragupathi demanded a sum of Rs 5,000 as bribe. But later negotiated for Rs 3,000. But, Naveen who refused to give bribe, lodged a complaint with the DVAC Tiruchy DSP Manikandan on Wednesday.


Based on his complaint, the DVAC arrested Ragupathi red-handed while he was accepting a bribe from Naveen.
