Driver sedates, rapes LKG girl in Coimbatore

The accused persons, Govindaraj (37) from Rangarajapuram and his assistant Marimuthu (55) from Kannarpalayam, both employees of a private school near Karamadai were arrested on Friday.

According to police, “Daily, the victim, four-year-old, hailing from a village was the last student to get dropped from the van. A few days ago, Govindaraj and Marimuthu gave her a sedative injection and raped her in the van before dropping her at home.”

Later, as the girl fell ill, the parents took her to a hospital for a check-up and the incident came to light. After an examination, the doctors informed about the sexual assault perpetrated on the victim.

Based on a complaint to Thudiyalur AWPS, the cops nabbed the van driver and his assistant, on suspicion as on the day of the incident, the girl was dropped home one hour late.

Police said, “They both confessed to the crime and were booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and further inquiries are on.”

Meanwhile, parents of children studying in the school gathered in front of the institution triggering tension. The members of All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) petitioned the Thudiyalur police demanding stringent action against the offenders.
