Earlier, the phone number of the parents were collected by officials to send information about the attendance of their wards, in an effort to reduce the absenteeism.
This collection of phone numbers has come in handy for Mars, who from Thursday, started sending voice messages to parents giving them tips of how to encourage their children in the preparation for the government exams.
The activity of sending voice message (in Tamil) begins at 5.30 am and Marshas decided to make it a daily exercise.
In his message, he advises parents to provide a congenial atmosphere in their houses to their children so that they could score well and bring laurels.
When asked about this, Mars told DT Next, “We have planned to send messages on a daily basis till the beginning of the government exams. Teachers of respective subjects will also use this mode to provide last minute tips for the students. The messages will also include information on various tests, revision tests and timings ofspecial classes.”
Parents have welcomed the move and Banumathi (49) of Vellore, mother of a class 12 student, said, “We have not met the CEO, but the voice messaging activity is a good idea and morale booster for us and our wards.”
Education department officials said, “The credit goes to the CEO, who on his own improvised on an existing facility to ensure thatstudents do well in the forthcoming exams.”
It waits to be seen whether the education department will pick up this idea and expand it to rest of the state.
