The action was taken after the City Police Commissioner received several complaints against Kalyana Raman from Nanganallur for posting misconstrued information about Islam.
The cybercrime wing of CCB had registered cases under the IPC sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups), 295 (defiling place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class) and 505 (public mischief and was on the lookout for him).
On information that Kalyana Raman was returning to Chennai from Ahmedabad, the CCB sleuths reached the airport around 7.30 am and arrested Kalyana Raman around 8.45 am. He was taken to commissioner’s office for further inquiry.
