Statistics from the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Secretariat revealed that highly qualified people like MTech, BTech, BE, MBA, PG, UG graduates in engineering, Arts and Science streams, diploma holders and BLit candidates have applied for 14 posts of sweeper and sanitary workers.
The Assembly Secretariat had last year issued an advertisement calling for applications. Though there was no major qualification prescribed for it, except they that should have attained 18 years of age, a whopping 4,607 applications have been received, including those from the Employment Exchange.
While 3,930 applicants have fulfilled criteria for the job, the applications of 677 candidates have been rejected.
