New Codissia park to woo Rs 3,000 crore: CM

Palaniswami inaugurates 375-acre faciilty built by CODISSIA, says 322 units to set shop thereby providing jobs to 10,000.

Chief Minister Edapadi K Palaniswami inaugurated the Codissia Industrial Park, spread over in a total area of 375 acres at Kallapalayam and Mopperipalayam near Coimbatore on Wednesday. 


Around 322 industries have proposed to set up units at Kallapalayam (140 acres) and Mopperipalayam (235 acres).  Edapadi said, “Investments for a sum Rs 3,000 crore will come through, while generating direct employment to 10,000 people and indirect employment opportunity to another 20,000 people.” 


To woo investments and generate employment opportunities, the Chief Minister added that the state has rolled out Start-Up Policy aimed at creating at least 5,000 startups, including 10 global high growth companies, by 2023, introduced online single window for easy clearance for new investors and have attracted investments for about Rs 3.431 crore through 304 MoUs at the Global Investors Meet.  Pointing out that a detailed project report prepared for introducing metro train system in Coimbatore will get over in a year’s time, he said that acquisition of land for airport expansion works have also been speeded up. He added that several infrastructure development works including construction of bridges, executing 24/7 water project and several road expansion works were executed by the state government in Coimbatore. 


Further, CM said, “If a country has to develop, then farming and industries should grow. Tamil Nadu tops among other states in the country for starting new investments due to its prevailing law and order situation.”  Later, while participating in a function to lay the foundation stone for building ‘Santhalingar’ Hospital in Annur, the Chief Minister said that Tamil Nadu has turned into a hub for medical tourism due to its quality medical care. “Providing quality health care has been the top priority of the state government,” he said.   At the function, Perur Adheenam Marudachala Adigalar presented the ‘Kongu Maavel’ award.
