Cook found dead with head smashed

According to police, the deceased Devi, wife of Mani, a labourer was living alone due to some dispute with her husband. “Her daughter Buvaneshwari (24) and son Purusothaman (21) were married and living elsewhere. She got separated from her husband 15 years ago due to some family issue and was making ends meet by working as a cook,” police said.

As she did not open the house located at Kumarankaradu area for a long time, the neighbours informed police, who arrived and found Devi lying dead in a pool of blood. A huge stone, used to smash her head was lying nearby.

On receiving information, the Sathyamangalam Deputy Superintendent of Police Subbaiya rushed to the spot and held enquiries. Fingerprint experts and a sniffer dog were pressed into service. The body of the deceased had been sent for a post mortem at Sathyamangalam Government Hospital.

A case has been registered and further inquiries are on.
