May talk to TNCC prez, says Kamal

Three days after Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) president Kamal Haasan ruled out the speculation of his party joining the DMK or the AIADMK, the actor-politician is continuing to meet district in-charges ahead of Lok Sabha elections. MNM has decided to contest in all the 40 constituencies in the state.

Kamal presided over a meeting on Sunday held at the party headquarters, where cadre from North Chennai, Central Chennai, South Chennai and Thiruvallur constituencies participated. “He discussed the party’s stand in the forthcoming elections and steps to be taken to garner support,” a party source said. “He will discuss with cadre from Kancheepuram, Sriperumpudur, Arani, Vellore and Arakkonam on Monday,” the source added.

Meanwhile, Kamal seemed unmoved over the reprimand from TNCC president KS Alagiri.

When asked about Alagiri’s statement, he said that it was his stand and “I may talk to him.” The statement had opened the prospect of MNM and Congress forging an alliance without the DMK. Even though Kamal bashed the DMK, he went soft on the Congress.
