Si Pa Aditanar’s birth anniv to be govt function

Speaking on the floor of the Assembly, the CM said that based on the demand of Tamil scholars, Si Pa Aditanar’s birth anniversary falling on September 27 will be celebrated as a government function. “His statue in Egmore will be garlanded and he will be paid respect by the government,” he said.

Further, he said Aditanar was a pioneer in journalism in TN and by founding Daily Thanthi, he enabled the common men read Tamil through simple language that he adopted in the paper. Besides, “Aditanar served as an MLA, Assembly Speaker and Minister for Cooperation,” he said. State Minister Kadambur C Raju and Congress MLA Vijayadharani thanked the government for the announcement.
