Four youth from Karnataka held for robbing trader on Jawadhu Hills

Four youth from Karnataka, who stole a car and cash from a chicken trader in the Jawadhu Hills were arrested by special police teams on Friday.

Officials said that Mani (25) of Tirupatthur, who supplied chicken to traders in and around Jawadhu Hills used to collect payment from them once a week. When Mani was returning to Tirupatthur with Rs 75,000 collection two days ago, a scrap iron dealer near the Jawadhu Hills check-post asked for a lift on his two-wheeler.

When they were nearing Alangyam, their two-wheeler was hit by a car with Karnataka number plates. When the duo fell to the ground, five men from the car grabbed the cash from Mani and drove away, later abandoning the car and escaping into the nearby forest.

Based on a complaint from Mani, police formed six special teams totalling 30 men and scoured the forest area. When a special party checked a government bus bound for Polur from Jamunamarudur, they questioned two youth on suspicion and nabbed them when they gave contradictory replies. A knife was also seized from them. The two were identified as Karthi (22) and Ismail (24) both of KR Puram in Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, residents of Navapalayam near Kalasapakkam nabbed two youth on suspicion. When the special team went and questioned them they confessed to their role in the theft.

The two were identified as Shakir (25) and Mushir (25) also from KR Puram in Bengaluru. The gang confirmed that the car they used in the crime was stolen from Bengaluru.

All the four were remanded to custody in the Vellore Central Prison while the car was handed over to the Jamunamarudur police station. Search continues to nab the remaining gang members.

Three of Ramji Nagar gang arrested in Mysuru for stealing valuables

Police on Saturday said that they have arrested three Inter-state thieves of Ramji Nagar gang involved in stealing valuables from parked cars by breaking the windshield. The arrested have been identified as Bharathi Rajan, (38), tailor Prakash, (56) and Jnanaprakash, (35) of Ramji Nagar in Tiruchy. During inquiry the arrested have confessed to stealing valuables from cars with their companions Delhi Rajan, Kadarivan and Gokul. They confessed to have stolen cash, laptops and gold from parked cars at five different places in Devaraja police station limits. Police have recovered cash of Rs 4,180 and 6 laptops from the trio. Devaraja Police have registered a case and looking out for remaining members of the gang.
