Referring to a media report suggesting that tender was inflated and awarded to a bidder in violation of the norms, Stalin said that he was shocked to find that the tender was awarded to the lone bidder who did not even possess the dealer possession licence.
Charging DGP Rajendran with allotting the tender floated to procure digital radio system for Chennai and Trichy cops to a bidder who had floated exorbitant price without any hesitation, Stalin, who is also the Leader of Opposition, sought to know if that was the reason the Chief Minister had let Rajendran continue as DGP despite him facing a CBI probe in the Gutkha scam.
Remarking that committing irregularities in a project concerning public safety was a crime, Stalin said that stringent action would be taken against people involved in the scam when the DMK returns to power with overwhelming public support.
