200 take part in Tirumanur jallikattu, 14 hurt

As many as 14 tamers sustained injury in the jallikattu held in Tirumanur in Ariyalur district on Tuesday.

In view of Arulmigu Kailasanathar temple in Thiruvengadanur, the villagers organized a jallikattu in which around 400 bulls from Tiruchy, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Perambalur and Salem district participated and around 200 tamers took part in the event.


Among the tamers, as many as 14 sustained injuries in which Tamilarasan (25) from Kovilur, Vijay (24) from Vadipatti in Madurai, Manikandan (23) from Arungal, Manikandam (23) from Thirumanur and another Manikandan (40) from Keezhaveedi in Tirumanur sustained severe injuries and they were referred to Thanjavur Medical college while the others are undergoing treatment in the Tirumanur GH.
