Couple donates blood at marriage hall
In a nobel gesture which was aimed at creating an awareness on blood donation, a couple donated blood minutes before entering into a wedlock in Dindigul district on Tuesday.

Reports received here said the marriage of Hariharan, an engineering graduate, and Anu Monisha, was scheduled to take place at a hall near the Collectorate.
An hour before tying the nuptial knot, the couple donated blood at the marriage hall.
Hariharan later said that Anu’s father Baskaran has donated blood close to 110 times and saved a number of lives. Her mother, a nurse, has also donated blood about 70 times.
He said he was happy to marry a girl from the family which was having the sole objective of donating blood.
Stating that he had also donated blood on several occasions, Hariharan said he had come across in several marriages, where awareness has been created on rain water harvesting and presenting tree saplings to enhance the green cover.
“Likewise blood donation is one of the essential services for the society. There is no caste, creed or religion in the blood,” he said, adding, he chose to donate blood on the occasion of his marriage to encourage blood donation in other wedding functions.
