Gokulraj, an engineering graduate, who fell in love with a girl from another community, was allegedly murdered and his body found abandoned on the railway track at EastThottipalayam near Pallipalayam in Tiruchengode on June 24, 2015.

Following investigation, the police arrested as many as 17 persons, including Dheeran Chinnamalai Gounder Peravai founder Yuvaraj, on charges of being the mastermind behind the murder.

Also, the then DSP, Tiruchengode division, Vishnupriya, who was probing the sensational murder case, was found hanging in her quarters in September the same year.

Curiously, the trial in the murder case took a twist as Swathi denied being with Gokularaj on the day of the murder. Swathi also refused to have visited the temple with him and claimed ignorance of Gokulraj’s kidnap and murder. As Swathi, who is the key witness in the case, turned hostile, the shocked CB-CID sleuths moved a petition in court seeking action against her. The petition sought legal action against Swathi for contradicting her own statements given to the police.

On hearing the case, Magistrate Dhanabal issued summons to Swathi. She, however, failed to appear. Following this, the court issued an arrest warrant on Wednesday and adjourned the hearing to March 12.
