Police said that Ravichandran of Kambainallur in Dharmapuri district, is a convict in the infamous 1984 murder and robbery in Dharmapuri. Following the murder, the police arrested him and produced him before the Krishnagiri Court. The court sentenced him to a life term and incarcerated him in the Vellore Central Prison in 1994.
In the same year Ravichandran applied for a parole to visit his native village. He was given a parole but he jumped the parole before reaching his village and absconded.
After a long search of 25 years, Ravichandran was caught when an Organised Crime Intelligence Unit (OCIU) sleuths received a tipoff that he was hiding in Tirupur. Based on the orders of OCIU DSP Ravindran, a team consisting of inspector Selvam, SI Ilyas Khan and head constable Radhakrishnan went to Tirupur and apprehended the culprit. He was brought back to Vellore on Wednesday night and was jailed in Vellore Central Prison. Bagayam police registered a case.
