Official sources in CMCH said that the health department has sought that the report be submitted within a week. Parents of the girl claimed that their daughter, born under-weight, was tested HIV positive after she underwent blood transfusion while undergoing treatment for her heart defect in CMCH in August last year.
The hospital authorities, however, refuted the allegations and claimed that the baby was only transfused with packed red blood cells (RBC), which has no possibility of being infected by HIV.
With the Health department seeking a report, an enquiry was made among the nurses, lab technicians and doctors at the hospital on Wednesday.
A separate inquiry is also under way by members of Coimbatore District Aids Control Society.
