Kamal was given a rousing welcome by an organised crowd at Tiruchy International Airport on Thursday when he came here to participate in a public meeting held at Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam in the evening and the distribution of fishing materials to Cyclone Gaja affected fishermen.
“Usually a person will never refer himself with the salutation of mister but others should use the term likewise, the recent ‘mega alliance’ has been campaigned by themselves but it is the other especially, the people, should term it as a mega alliance on seeing them,” Kamal told reporters here.
He said that the MNM would face the elections alone in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and the list of candidates would be released from February 24 in several phases. “Our party would give priority to youth and then their educational qualification would be taken into consideration,” he said.
The party was scheduled to hold its first anniversary public meeting at Tirunelveli on February 24.
Meanwhile, the MNM chief stressed that the party’s motto and the core ideology is only people’s welfare and the party has been focusing on it and there is no compromise on that. When asked whether there will be a third front comprising MNM, Kamal said, “There may be a possibility and I do not know as of now.”
In the meantime, he stressed that there should be some qualification for the parties to forge alliance with the MNM. “We have already tested our qualification and now, we face the people with confidence,” he said. Responding to a query about the party’s performance in one year, he said that the party has been received well by the people.
“People have been praising us for our honesty. We have adopted a few villages and will be supporting these villages with several welfare measures gradually,” he added.
